African American guy, nicely dressed goes to knock on my door as I am opening it to check the mail. I'm still in my uniform from my minimum wage job, didn't stop this pathetic loser from ripping me off.

He originally wanted $90, of course I said No. Then on the speech went. He started off with "I know people like you had to work hard to get a home like this" and how "he too, is trying to turn it around." He shows me a clipboard with "references" on it. I immediately am suspicious as the handwriting for the names and signatures all look the same.

I close the door and say to my kids, Mommy is getting robbed. Except he's not using a weapon, he's going to steal from me. I am a Christian as well. Didn't want to "stereo type" or assume he's a lying ***.

I presented him a $60 dollar check with a cross on it, a scripture verse, so HE KNEW who he was robbing. There it is. We want to believe African Americans when they come to the door to sell something. After this.

FORGET IT. Never again. No wonder 92124 has such hostile NO SOLICITATION signs on their front doors. Because of JERKS LIKE THIS!

It is a SCAM and I hope they get everything coming their way. I should call the *** TURKO files!

Best part, I had to work SIX hours to pay for that check he robbed me for. I hope they get caught and thrown in JAIL.

Reason of review: Problem with delivery.

Monetary Loss: $60.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Mailbox Media Cons: Theft.

Yesterday an African American woman came to my door selling childrens' books for a charity. It sounded fishy to me but she ended up getting $22.50 out of me.

The company was "Mailbox Media" and the idea was to pay points toward a package of children's books that would then be donated to the local battered women's shelter. I have a soft spot for the shelter she mentioned so I paid her the minimum which was $20. plus some kind of handling fee.

I'm sure it was a scam thinking back on it but I really wanted to believe her. Live and learn.

Dear Anonymous, Exact same band of thieves - same sob story they used with me. If I didn't want to do the $90 dollar subscription, that was the "other option" that we could "help a charity" by -- even though we did not purchase a subscription.

They cashed my check in... February! No books or magazines delivered to date, and frankly, I don't expect them to be. What I do hope, the thieves conducting this scam, get caught.

And when do, and I trust they will be one day, get every thing coming their way. They are GOOD. They count on our guilt.

Or want to "not judge" so we open our our wallets to be robbed on our own front porches. Shame on them!
